Automatic radiator valves – better than conventional TRV’s ?

The concept of automatic radiator valves has been around for a number of years. However, technological and calibration problems needed overcoming, in particular the issue of placing a “heat sensor” on top of a “heat emitter”.

For years, many leading manufacturers have been unable to get the technology to work due to the effect of internal and external temperature gains going “undetected”.

In basic terms users would only benefit from the programmability of the automatic radiator valve, however would sacrifice comfort as room temperatures would over or under heat.

Recent technological breakthroughs now mean that automatic radiator valves are now feasible not only delivering the flexibility of controlling radiators individually, but with accurate temperature control.

  • Do you want to reduce your heating bills?
  • Are you looking for better temperature control?
  • Are you looking for a programmable valve?
  • Have you been trying to control your heating better?
  • Are you looking for automatic radiator valves
  • Are you trying to upgrade your heating before winter?
eTRV an automatic radiator valve with time & temperature control

With Chalmor’s award winning patented automatic radiator valve (eTRV), temperature control is no longer a problem.

  • eTRV has dual sensors, and is able to accurately monitor and maintain the temperature through precise control of the radiator flow.
  • Users can program eTRV and leave their automatic radiator valve to intelligently turn on and off depending on time and temperature settings.
  • eTRV is a simple DIY installation and allows users to upgrade on a room by room basis
  • eTRV gives commercial and domestic users the potential for 25% energy savings

Automatic Flush (Valve Exercise) – reducing maintenance

Another feature of eTRV is its weekly automatic flush (Valve Exercise) each week the valve fully opens and closes to prevent the build up of calcium and “gunk” on the valve body.

During the summer when heating is not required, this weekly function prevents your radiator valves from seized up, so come the Winter you will not need to replace your valve body, or call out a plumber to have your system drained down so to replace the valve bodies.

An expert's view

“Present mechanical TRV’s use technology from Victorian times which can be slow to react and poor at maintaining temperature control. But an innovative new design comprising of accurate, sensitive electronic measurement, digital control in real time that is easily programmable from a hand-held infra-red remote, has recently been unveiled by Chalmor.

Following a ShellStep Innovation award, Chalmor received a grant to develop the concept to a working consumer product.

The eTRV offers large energy saving potential together with improvements to comfort through precise regulation giving full automatic radiator control to any room whether installing in domestic homes or commercial builds such as offices and hotels.”
